Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
